This is a made to order two piece mid Victorian style costume. You will certainly stand out from the crowd when you make your grand entrance wearing this costume. Top:- The fitted top is made from the same tartan as the skirt and is flat lined with black cotton fabric. It fastens at the front with hooks and eyes and has five decorative frog fastenings. The neckline is bound with the same fabric as the top and is hand finished as is the bottom edge of the top. The sleeves have fixed under sleeves made from white 100% cotton, the cuffs are trimmed with white lace and fastens with a decorative white frog fastening. The sleeves are trimmed with black gimp braid. If you would prefer the under sleeves to be separate please let me know and they can then be either elasticated or fitted with a drawstring at the top edge. SKIRT:- Made from a beautiful blue tartan fabric which is pleated onto a waistband which is fitted with a drawstring so that the skirt can be tightened as much as you like and there will be no risk of it slipping down. The length is 44″ (111.5cm) and the sweep of the skirt at the hem is approx 180″ (457cm) which is plenty big enough to be worn over a hooped crinoline petticoat (not supplied). The skirt can be shortened before sending if required, however it would probably be better shortened by yourself or to get someone to do it for you after receiving it and trying it on as once shortened it would be disastrous if you hadn’t measured correctly and it was too short. Please note the skirt is displayed over a hooped petticoat which is not included, it could be worn either with or without a hoop. We would recommend dry cleaning this garment as it it will give a better finish than washing. This costume would be suited for most Victorian events and characters such as Queen Victoria, The Bronte sisters and Beatrix potter to name but a few.
