








This is a period Civil War Era Taille D’Epargne locket made of gold plated or rolled gold metal. The front of the locket features a simple cross on a vlack ground with a garland around the rim. The back of the locket is etched with a garland around a black ground and has a center cartouche for etching a name. Probably used to hold a memento mori or photo or portrait of of a deceased loved one as was the custom during the time period in which this locket was made. It measures 7/8″ X 5/8″ and it is not marked. It has been tested and is not gold. It is gold plated or rolled gold. Condition: There is wear on the gold plating.
