With an eagle’s head at the tip of the hilt, both the curved outside and spiral ribbed portion of the handle are decorated in white enamel, while the ornate jeweled clamshell guard is decorated with the American Eagle holding a branch and arrows with in the center a emerald, probably made in commission as a present for a officer.
